Over a year ago I bought a used square coffee table with good intentions to paint/refinish and then flip it.  I love doing refinishing projects and flips; it’s a way to finance my creativity. 🙂  I forgot about the coffee table; I recently found it buried under clutter in the corner of my photography studio.

I had planned to buy a new coffee table.  Nothing too expensive, just something from Target or from Ikea’s Hemnes collection.  I figured it’d be nice if we got matching end tables too.  Then I remembered how much my kids love doing their schoolwork at our current square coffee table.  We’re selling that one since it matches an armoire we no longer have room for and also because it has some sharp hardware on it that makes me nervous when the kids are rough-housing.  The forgotten coffee table has storage drawers (perfect for our current school projects) and while it doesn’t “match” our new storage bookcases or my new desk, I think if I paint and distress it, it will “go.”  So there’s my almost-free coffee table.  I think I paid $40 for it, but it was over a year ago so it doesn’t count, right?  And it’s larger than the $129 Ikea Hemnes coffee table…and has storage.  Nothing like finding a score in one’s own home!
