One of my goals for 2013 (resolutions are too easy to break, in my opinion) is to make progress on the house every day. We moved in August and I’m still not completely unpacked and organized. The schoolroom and my master bedroom have turned into dumping grounds for all the miscellany I haven’t figured out how to put away…and really, not one room was quite how I wanted it.
Having hubby home for 10 days over Christmas was great because we got a lot done.
- We finished organizing and decorating all of the kids’ rooms.
- We re-arranged the den/office and while there are a few more “issues” to handle, it’s so much better.
- We replaced the broken shower head in our shower.
- I re-caulked the leaky kitchen sink.
- I cleaned out the pantry and donated non-primal food.
- Hubby replacd some burned out porchlight bulbs.
There were a few things I wanted to get to over his vacay (or our ‘staycation’ as we called it) but I spent his last day off helping my dad move, so a few things didn’t get done.
- I addressed them today, all by myself! I put up three spice racks on the back of the pantry door, so I could clear precious cabinet space for my over-crowded baking dishes and pots and pans.
- I put up my magnetic knife rack! This was wonderful because my knives literally have been sitting on the counter behind my Vitamix for FOUR long months!
- I gave our almost-14yo son a nice, neat short haircut. Something I thought his father would have to help me convince him to agree to…but he was ready to agree on his own! 🙂
I still need to (have hubby or oldest son) change the air filters and the lightbulbs in our back porch lights. Oh, and we have a bunch of vanity lights out which also need changed.
I feel very accomplished; like I’m well on my way to a VERY productive year!
